SEO and Adsense-the Common Factor
By Vickie J. Scanlon
There are some things that SEO and Adsense has in common. Surprised?
SEO Defined
SEO (search engine optimization) is the utilization of keywords within the Meta tags and within the body of your content to help the search engines to identify what your web page/website is
about.
If you and the search engines' algorithms are on the same page you will be rewarded with a good page ranking, so your target market will flock to you in groves. But this is the kicker, SEO is not an exact science, but one of trial and error. So be patient.
Adsense
Adsense is Google advertising. Once you sign up for Google Adsense, you can place pieces of java script code onto your site. In turn, Google Adsense will come by and place, hopefully, relevant
ads on your web page.
Once you have experimented with the color, size and positioning of your ads on the page, you are ready for the Google spider to roll through your site and put relevant ads on your site to give you a side income. Now that we know a little about SEO and Adsense, what do they have in common?
Adsense and SEO Common Factor
So what is Adsense and SEO's common factor. The spider:
1.cannot read images-you need to enlist the use of a title and the alt tag to identify the image for the search engines.
2.has trouble with Flash and dyanamic content (urls that have ? within it <>. Spiders get skiddish and will back out if it is too complex. And let me emphasis it needs to be simple.
To conclude, SEO is the hub for you to work on. Though quality content is important, it is the SEO work you have done that will help to get the quality ads from Adsense and people to your site.

SEO and Ethics
Doing my research, as well as, the continuation of my learning the SEO process. I came across an article by Mark Hochhaus, regarding Search Engine Marketing Ethics. It gives you an insight as to what you need to be alert too. Such as: 1. your competition's ethics and how they can effect your website; 2. SEO firms ethics and the consequences of unethical practices. 3. And the temptation of following in some webmaster's unethical footsteps, and the consequences that can cause.
I guess, with anything of value, you must be ever viligant, and stay informed.
Search Engine Marketing Ethics: Don't Believe The Hype
Getting to the top of the search engines, and staying there, is an ongoing process. This does not mean it is expensive to stay at the top. In fact, in most cases, it's rather affordable. But beware, there are pitfalls along the way to search engine Zen.
The old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true", applies to SEO (search engine optimization). There are many companies that will promise top results using less than ethical methods. Including slick salesmen that will convince you that all the top sites cheat the search engines in order to stay on top. You will run into web site owners that mask keywords to get top positions making it sound very tempting to follow in their foot steps.
Don't be fooled by such hype. These are short term solutions that can lead to a permanent ban in the top engines. Once you are banned in Google, Yahoo, MSN or ASK, you may as well dump your site and start over. If you're looking for long term success on the internet, don't cheat the search engines.
One of the cheats I have been seeing lately is masking content with "noscript tags". The noscript tags are used to define an alternate content (text) if a script is NOT executed. People have been taking advantage of this and filling it with content that visitors don't see, but the search engines do. While this does work, it is short term and believe me when I say, you will be caught. You will have no warning, no second chances. You will wake up one day and your site will not be found.
There is no phone number to call, your emails go unanswered, and traffic to your site drops off overnight. Your income dries up and it's all over. It can take six months or more to undo the damage and, in some cases, it's permanent. The major search engines are always on the lookout for new cheats. When found, they will program the search engines to drop the sites using these methods. Without warning, you're gone. Also, don't forget, your competition watches your site and is looking for ways to rank higher than you. Your competition may report your unethical methods to the search engines.
If you're planning to be around for the long haul and want some success on the internet, then you need to be ethical in your promotion. Unless you have daily time dedicated to studying SEO and making the needed changes, you should contract with a reputable SEO company. You need a company that studies the SEO industry on a daily basis to keep on top of what it takes to rank at the top for the long run. A company that is above cheats and quick fixes. A company that offers solid optimization that can keep you on top of the search engine results. A company that will take the time to target your specific audience to get you visitors that are interested in your product or service.
Many SEO companies will promise thousands of visitors a day. Unless those visitors are interested in what you have to offer or ended up at your site and did not find what they searched for, they will remember you. They will remember that you did not have what they wanted. They may leave disappointed and your good name will have a black mark next to it. Don't get sucked into damaging your image by slick salesmen.
When looking for a company to handle your SEO, first and foremost, be comfortable with the people you will be directly working with. They will need total access to your web site and server to make the needed changes. At times, the verbiage of your site may need minor changes. A word or two may need to be changed to improve keyword density. You need a company you can trust with your company's image.
In today's business world, you must have a web site. After all, your competition does. Your site must be marketed ethically and monitored daily. Changes must be made ASAP when conditions change. Hire a professional to handle SEO. When your business is booming, it's too easy to put SEO on the back burner. Before you know it, your rankings will have dropped from top to bottom, as well as your bottom line.

Website Copy and Your Personality
I found this article by Paul Matthews to be very interesting and enlightening. Does, or should I say, can your personality sabotage your web copy -- and thus, effect your website? Since content is an important aspect of your website, I would venture to say that it does. Check this article out, and see if you need to go back through your own website -- and see if you are sabotaging your website with your own personality. As they say, sometimes when you are so close to the creation, you do not see the flaws that others can see quickly.
Web Copy Sabotage
How does your personality affect your web copy? Whether you mean to or not, your site reflects you in ways you might not notice: sometimes good, sometimes bad. While personality peccadilloes can be endearing in social situations, minor personality flaws can cause web copy sabotage.
So before you get out your keyboard, get out a mirror.
Why not see if any of these 3 personality traits are seeping into the design and copy of your web site?
* Insecurity
* Pride
* Anxiety
Web Copy Sabotage #1: Insecure people create timid sites
Most people are insecure in certain situations as they vary their image to gain the favour of others. Nothing kills web copy faster than trying to be a people pleaser. Insecure people create timid sites that try to be all things to all people. Instead of declaring, “Here’s who I am,” insecure web copy tentatively pleads, “I can be whatever you want; hope you find something you like.” How forgettable and phony is that?
Secure people on the other hand have learned to get real.
Some people like them; others don’t. Their web copy stands out because their authors stand up. Their web copy is memorable because it is authentic. Does your web copy take a stand or does it sit on the sidelines wanting to be liked? Is your web copy real or real phony?
Web Copy Sabotage #2: Proud people produce narcissistic sites
While timid web copy aims overly outward, narcissistic web copy looks too far in the other direction. Business owners have a justifiable pride in their business. Sorry to say this pride can lead to web copy sabotage.
* Many owners lost in their delight often boast, “Look what I can do,” instead of proclaiming, “Look what you get.”
* Their web copy tends to focus on features instead of real customer benefits. It highlights trained staff rather than peace of mind.
Missing are empathy and impact. Nothing kills internet rapport like a one-sided, relationship. Does your web copy brag about you or resonate with strangers?
Web Copy Sabotage #3: Anxious people make nervous sites
Nervous sites are the most common form of web copy sabotage. They don’t gaze outward or inward; they look nowhere, all hurried and patchy.
The visuals are the first give-away:
* A little red here and a dash of purple
* A touch of bold with a smidgen of underlining
* A bevy of random quotations
* A frenzy of isolated graphics
Where’s the rhyme? Where’s the reason? Where is the message? The web copy reads more like a digital ransom note than a calm presentation of a distinctive value proposition.
The sad part is this kind of web copy sabotage is that it frequently betrays an honest business person who is just not comfortable about expressing his business. This web copy unfairly depicts sleaze and incredulity.
Sometimes the anxiety is driven by a specific learning style. A number of individuals are more comfortable with trees than a forest, preferring details to the big picture. That’s too bad because site visitors usually crave the big picture before they invest their care and clicks. What image does your web copy convey – calm or chaos?
Web Copy Sabotage: What can you do about it?
So you’re not perfect.
Everybody is a bit insecure, a tad proud and slightly anxious. The trick is to keep these failings from invading your web copy. So what can you do to prevent web copy sabotage?
Your human shortcomings might populate your site because you are just too close to the data to detect your demons creeping up the keyboard.
You’ve got to get some distance. First have a third party who’s not a family member play site doctor, looking for symptoms of insecurity, pride, and anxiety in your site design and copy.
There’s nothing like conducting your own foible check to be sure you parked your sabotaging issues at the curb, not in your web copy. Here are 3 questions to ask:
* What exactly does my site stand for?
* How do my visitors see themselves?
* How have I organized my design and copy?
If these tactics don’t help you improve your web copy, you could either see a qualified psychiatrist or hire – you know – a handy copywriter.

SEO---- The Tortoise or the Hare
What can SEO do for your website? It can help you to be noticed in the search engines. But if you're looking for speed -- quick money -- SEO will not do it for you. But if you are looking for a solid presence on line and longevity -- then this is where you begin. So, choose for yourself -- do you want to be the Tortoise -- Or the Speed Demon Hare?
SEO -- The Tortoise or the Hare
Search Engine Optimization is one way in which you can get your website in front of the search engines. But what do you need to do in the Search Engine Optimization process? And is it worth it? I will give a quick overview of some of the factors involved and I'll let you determine for yourself if it is worth it.
KEYWORDS
First and foremost, search engines look for keywords and keyword phases in which to index your webpages. So you must prepare each page for the search engines. Thus, when you are writing copy for your website, keep four or five keywords that you want to emphasize for that webpage -- then weave the words into the copy.
However, don't blatantly use the keywords over and over again -- or as they say -- use keyword stuffing -- or the search engines will penalize you for it. And, needless to say, your readers will click away, if the flow of the copy is so obviously stuffed with your keywords that it jeopardizes the quality of the copy. Quality of copy first, keywords second.
META-TAGS
There are several meta-tags that the search engines look at. The two most important are:
1. Title
2. Description
Both the Title and the Description Tags should have your most relevant keywords. Now, the keywords meta-tags is not used by Google, but the other search engines may utilize them. Are they important? It really depends who you are talking too. Some say, by putting the keywords into your web page you are giving your competitors the edge. Others, feel that if your competitors want to know what keywords you are using they will find a way. (I'm of the latter's thinking.)
LINKING
Linking is another important factor in Search Engine Optimization. Without proper linking -- or establishing a linking campaign -- your great site may not be found by the search engines. You need to find ways in which to allow human visitors, beside yourself, to find you.
INBOUND LINKS
Inbound links -- links pointing to your website is very good for search engine rankings, and gives more ways for human visitors to find your website.
How do you get inbound links? Write articles and place them on article directories for ezine publishers, newsletter publishers, or bloggers to pick up.
Blogs is another way in which you can get one-way links to your site. Again, that same article you wrote for the article directories can be put in your blog and then submitted to a Blog Directory. Just do a search on Goggle for "Blog Directory" and you should find enough to keep you busy.
OUTBOUND LINKS
An outbound link is a url that you have on your site that points to another website. An outbound link on your site means that you feel the link has quality content for your readers -- and you are redirecting them to it from your site.
So, what does outbound linking offer you? You can see what an outbound link can do for another website, right? Well, by carefully linking to other sites-- relevant sites -- you can increase your own relevancy.
So be careful who you link too -- because outbound links figures into the entire ranking algorithm process -- or restated -- your page ranking.
To conclude, this overview is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to SEO. It's not an easy task, and it is time-consuming. Will you see a quick return money-wise. No, but SEO will eventually give you the money you seek, as well as, offer you longevity. And isn't that what you want--longevity? I know I sure do. I would rather be the tortoise, and not the hare -- and slowly, but methodically move in the direction of my dream of a home career. If you take the wrong shortcuts, you can lose your dream and your home career. So, is SEO worth it? I think so. How about you.

Adwords, Adsense, SEO – Common Denominator, Keywords
When you first get on the Internet and put up your website, you are amassed with information. To sort through the information, determine what is useful for you and for your website is another thing. In addition, the Internet is a constant evolving and changing medium that you need to keep abreast of everyday.
If you are wanting to have multiple streams of income, you need to know the basics, and build upon them. With that being said, here is an article that I have written that shows the interrelationship of Adwords, Adsense, SEO and Keywords.
Adwords, Adsense, SEO – Common Denominator, Keywords
If you have just put up a website, you probably all ready have heard words like:keywords, Google Adwords, GoogleAdsense, SEO. Adwords, Adsense, SEO have one thing in common – Keywords. How important are keywords? Very Important.
Google Adwords
Adwords, be it through Google, Miva, or any pay-per-click search engines, you need keywords. With Adwords, you create a three-line ad – 25 word title, with two 35 word lines of ad copy – then you create your keywords. To get the hits, you have to brainstorm for different keywords, that are different but relevant to your target audience. Sound easy? It’s not. It takes time, patience, constant tweaking, and hoping that the product you are selling is not already saturated -- to much competition, makes it a little more difficult for the novice to make a profit.
Google Adsense
Google Adsense is an advertising program created by Google, and which is beginning to be explored by other search engines, such as Yahoo and MSN – that allows you to put targeted ads on your website. If someone clicks on the ad, you earn a small amount of money. These ads are keyword driven and are relevant to your web page or website. Sounds simple? Well, not really. There is more too it than just putting an ad on your website and expecting someone to click on it. What’s involved? Let’s see – color, position, style, to name just a few.
SEO
Search engine optimization – this for me has been a time-consuming process – since I am still learning. SEO is keyword driven – the search engines pull the keywords from your web copy – not, to my surprise, from the meta keywords tag. Granted, I still use the meta keywords tag, but maybe in the near future, I will slowly eliminate the tag from my web pages… The search engines do, however, pull information from Meta Description, Meta Title, and the content of your webpages. Thus, content does reign supreme. Since content reigns supreme, each page should contain useful content and most importantly, your most relevant keywords that you want to emphasize. Secondly, it is best to try and base your keywords around a central theme. I have found that when the keywords diverts away from the main theme – that sends a red flag to search engines. So, if you want to look at your keywords and the density of the keywords on your webpage or webpages – You can get a quick rundown at: http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html . It’s a free tool, and very helpful.
To conclude, keywords is one of the main ingredients that leads people to your website, product, service and/or ad. …AND, keywords based around your quality content will help with your positioning on your website.

How Do I Get Traffic To My Website?

Internet Marketing requires you to sale other people’s products or services, or if you have decided to create your own product, sale your own. But whether you are selling your own or others, we all have one thing in common – getting traffic to our websites. But what is most important is not just getting traffic, but targeted traffic. Thus, How Do you or I get traffic to our sites?
In my early beginnings on the Internet, I tried many methods of getting traffic to my website. I was definitely a newbie in training – some of the software or services that I bought did me no good. I found, at times, that it was truly difficult to decipher which was a good deal and which was not – who was honest, and who was not – but I guess it goes with the Internet territory – and you must always do your due diligence.
However, I have found three methods of getting traffic to my site or affiliate product or service – Buying it – PPC, such as Google, Mamma, Overture, linking or the hard one Search Engine Optimization.
Pay-Per-Click
If you have the money to invest in Google or some of the other search engines pay-per-click programs you can make some money. Here you create an ad or ads relevant to your affiliate program, and place a bid on the keywords you select. This takes time, energy, persistence and money – and research. Also, I would advise that you read your affiliate programs rules, as well as, the rules of Google Adwords before jumping into the pay-per-click arena. You usually have to put “aff” after your ad or something similar to that – it’s dependent upon the affiliate program you are in. The idea with pay-per-click is that you pay only when the individual clicks on your ad.
Linking
Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. The paid methods are paying for your link to be shown in Ezines, newsletters or on other peoples’ sites. It can be costly, so the best suggestion that I can give you is to research the Ezines, newsletters and or other people sites that you want to link with before buying. In most cases, if ezines are accepting advertising, you know they must have at least 500+ subscribers, or I should say, be sure that they have at least 500+ subscribers before advertising in their ezine. Know what you are getting before you put your money down – and as they always say, be sure to read the fine print.
The unpaid method is through article creation. This requires hard work on your part, but the return will be seen in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products. Content reigns king on the Internet – and if it is relevant to their needs – they will eventually come to read.
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines, and thus, to pull people to your website by it relevance. This is a difficult chore and needs to continually be worked at – and within the ethics of the Search Engines.
To conclude, getting targeted people to your site is really part of growing your business. And Internet marketing – well, it’s not for the faint-hearted, but for the determined, persistent individual who wants to really make a living on-line. Thus, if you really want to make a living on-line – don’t give up and promote.
Available on my website is additional information regarding SEO, Adwords, Adsense and more.
