What exactly is the difference between a Tier One player and the field? That's a question I field often and usually my response is A LOT. But to give some better perspective I decided to delve into the 2008 numbers and give you some more clarity. Chris Paul finished the season last year as the number one overall player, and entered this season much the same. He and LeBron James are in a class of their own as Tier One players. In my opinion, you should only trade FOR Tier One players, and once you have one, you never give them up (barring a big injury, or a Shawn Marion like fall from grace!).
'But Wait!' some will say, I'm getting offered this guy AND this guy. Sure sure, just to show you how much of a difference a Tier One player makes, I'm going to do some comparing. Let's say you hold Chris Paul and someone offers you Jason Kidd AND Pau Gasol for him, two bona fide first round players who both had great seasons last year. Let's take a look at the numbers:
Chris Paul
78 games, 1781 points, 861 assists, 216 steals, 64 Treys, .503 FG%, .868 FT%, 231 TO's, 432 Rebounds, 10 blocks
Jason Kidd
81 games, 731 points, 702 assists, 160 steals, 131 Treys, .416 FG%, .819 FT%, 185 TO's, 500 Rebounds, 39 blocks
Pau Gasol
81 games, 1528 points, 284 assists, 52 steals, 1 trey, .567 FG%, .781 FT%, 157 TO's, 780 Rebounds, 81 blocks
What's the difference now between having CP3 and having Kidd and Gasol, besides the extra 4 games of stats involved?
478 points, 125 assists, 0 steals, 68 treys, .480 FG%, .732 FT%, 111 TO's, 848 rebounds, 110 blocks.
Do those stats look familiar? Of course they do! They can be found by anybody sitting on your waiver wire right now. In fact, your waiver wire players probably have many of these stats dominated. To reiterate what I'm trying to say, CP3 and any random waiver wire guy are at least equal to Jason Kidd and Pau Gasol. Still don't believe me? Well I went digging, not too far because I didn't feel like wasting time on a settled subject, but I also didn't need to go far. I found, waiver wire extraordinaire Ronny Turiaf. Here's his 2008 numbers.
Ronny Turiaf
79 games, 470 points, 166 assists, 34 steals, 0 treys, 50.8 FG%, 79 FT%, 70 turnovers, 360 boards, 168 blocks
So Ronny Turiaf and CP3 together will beat Kidd and Gasol in 7 out of 9 categories. SEVEN OUT OF NINE CATEGORIES. With just Ronny freakin Turiaf! If you can somehow scour a better WW pickup than ole Ronny, or just have someone that you already drafted and is in your rotation or on your bench that's better than Turiaf, well you might just take all 9 categories.
The moral of the story here folks is that Tier One players like CP3 and LBJ are just untouchable. Sure there are changing of the guards, as players like Chris Johnson in the NFL joins Adrian Peterson in Tier One. Or when CP3 replaced Shawn Marion in the top tier. But I, for one, don't see either of these guys going anywhere anytime soon.
Two things for you all to take from this. First, if you can get one of these guys, DO IT. It only takes one so I don't advise being greedy and grabbing both of them, but if there's a shot at getting one of them, go for it! Secondly, this is why I ALWAYS play the auction draft format. I do my utmost to make sure I spend whatever it takes to land Chris Paul or LeBron James or Adrian Peterson or Albert Pujols or whatever. The advantage is so huge it is worth it. If you are a yahoo player, and they are still stuck using the yesteryear snake draft format (which as you can now see if very unfair), I advise finding a third party website that let's you auction draft, then take your results back to your yahoo league (hint hint, ESPN let's you auction draft for free!).
P.S. if there are any math nerds out there, kidd and turiaf had similar attempts from the FT line and from the field, so the percentages are an accurate comparison. Just sayin, Thief's got it all covered.

Hey how you doing Thief,
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering whats your take on this. Kevin Martin is on the FA and I'm thinking about doing a 2-1 or 3-2 sort of deal to pick him up while also getting a better player from another team out of it.
Here is my team:
Derrick Rose
Mike Dunleavy
Andre Iguodala
Kevin Durant
David West
Emeka Okafor
Zach Randolph
Pau Gasol
Aaron Brooks
Devin Harris
Chris Kaman
Troy Murphy
Brandon Jennings
so from what i just read on your current post i just made a big mistake..... i traded lebran and danilo gallinari for dwyane wade and david lee. did i just majorly mess my team up?
ReplyDeleteLOL! couple of douchbags from my fantasy traded CP3 for KD and Jameer Nelson when CP3 was injured. Now CP3 is back and Nelson is injured! he is so screwed
ReplyDeletethis is for the 1st post forgot to add
ReplyDeletepts- 17.55
3s- 0.83
reb- 6.48
stl- 1.06
blk- 0.71
You keep mentioning CP3 and Lebron as must have and I agreed.
ReplyDeleteHow about this trade? I get Lebron and give Carmelo Anthony (or Joe Johnson) and Mo Williams (or OJ Mayo).
Yo pavel here
ReplyDeletepts: 15.375
3's: .98
rebs: 6.4
Asts: 3.11
Stls: 1.14
Blks: .73
I was offered
eric gordon
brook lopez
for
emeka okafor
devin harris
i lose some blocks and a good player in lopez but gain assists in harris. whawt do you think?
^^^3rd post forgot assists
ReplyDeleteast-3.54
Hey thief. My trade offer of Tony Parker + Mike Dunleavy for Rashard Lewis got rejected. The other owner said he did not need any more guards.
ReplyDeleteI'm dead last in my league now and definately need some help. my league is a H2H 9 category.
the league is all a bunch of close friends and we talk about fantasy a lot when we hang out but so far, there has not been a SINGLE trade. Just a lot of waiver wire moves.
It's pretty difficult to work out a trade with these guys because they are VERY attached to their players.
here are my sauce numbers again.
pts 15.29
asts 3.16
rebs 6.05
3s .42
stls .77
blks .79
My team consists of
Brandon Roy
Allen Iverson
Jason Kidd
Tony Parker
Mike Dunleavy
Rudy Gay
Paul Pierce
LaMarcus Aldridge
Pau Gasol
Andrew Bynum
Andrea Bargnani
Kendrick perkins
Joel Pryzbilla
My numbers are pretty horrid compared to your sauce numbers.
What kind of trade offer can I make to improve my team? Remember the other owners in my league won't go for a trade unless they think it's a heck of a deal..
well i am no gadadoo but i would say look at the guys in your leage who picked up free agents alot those are gonna be your bet for finding trades shows they are active it is hard when your league doesnt move much.you will see an improvement in your team now that gasol and aldridge are producing like they are
ReplyDeleteA good propose
ReplyDeleteSent Jamal Crawford, Gilbert Arenas, and Paul Pierce
Trying to get: Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson, and Anthony Morrow
Also have Baron Davis and Jason Rich.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Would it be in my favor to trade Kevin Durant for CP3? I would lose a lot in the points category and that is one of the categories in which I need to improve, but CP3 would help me elsewhere. Is it worth it to do this trade?
Anony1(and3), try Randolph and Brooks for Bargnani. Baths is a good fit for your squad. If you can do it with less than Brooks, go for it.
ReplyDeleteAnony2, Wade is very close to Tier One, but not quite there. Sorry
anony4, dunh dunh dunh, another one bites the dust!
Stan, welcome! Try Perkins and Allen for Duncan. Good luck!
Anony5, I like those deals. Run your secret sauce numbers and see if you can afford to lose reb (melo) or treys (Joe).
Pavel, go for it.
Sennator, use the message board and trading block. Start some dialogue and find out what peeps want/need. Be proactive.
Aaron, here's my advice, don't join a public league. You can find private ones open by looking in yahoo or espn forums. Public leagues blow.
Anony6, right on, thanks for the help.
Anony7, take arenas and morrow out of the deal and go with that.
Absofreakinlutely, wasn't the post clear! Def do Durant for Paul.
ReplyDeleteThief, I just posted a message on my league board encouraging people to start some dialogue as you said. Thanks for the advice!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at some FA stats and noticed that Kevin Martin would help me team out in a HUGE way.. When would be a good time to drop a lower level guy to pick him up? (Dunleavy)
I just dropped Pryzbilla for Redd. I'm hoping he doesn't come back for 1-2 games and sit out again like what happened a few weeks ago...
If he can get his numbers back up to last years averages, it would help me out quite a bit but I am still no where near your sauce numbers for most categories...
I usually don't doubt you, but I just don't see myself thievin in this one. Emeka isn't playin all that well and gordon (like you said) is a buy low and will be a force later on in the season. Can you please explain why this is ok? Sorry for asking you to reiterate since you have so many other people asking you things
ReplyDeleteso you commented on my post in the F. BBall forums.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering. Is KOBE part of the tier 1 IYO?
also, I think I made a pretty decent trade...care to rate it?
I had AK47 + Ersan Ilyasova
--4--
I got David West + Al Harrington
also, please check my forum post again and any help is appreciated. I completely agree with your 2-1 (surface level deal)
just to refresh, I have:
KOBE, Artest, Fisher, Korver, Udrih, David West, Harrington, T. Gibson, YiJianLian, Pietrus, Iverson, RIP Hamilton, and Andrew Bynum.
thoughts are appreciated.
I'm trying to put together a trade offer for either Eric Gordon or Gilbert Arenas.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking some kinda combination with 2 maybe 3 of the following... Paul Pierce, Kendrick Perkins, Tony Parker, Mike Dunleavy
The guy who owns EG and Arenas is 1st place and has a lot of good guards (cp3, nash, monta)
Hey its aaron-
ReplyDeleteSo the guys that own d williams and nash are not active at all. so who else should i try for?
Senn, we got a good two weeks before even thinking of grabbing kmart. Try dealing Perkins n Parker for Arenas. That'd be nice.
ReplyDeletePavel, okafor is down really just points to brook. Harris dominates Gordon except in treys. You won't take a huge hit in either, the blocks are pretty even, and harris' assists and upside will be a big boost. I like Gordon, I like Harris more!
Yahoo guy, Kobe is solidly Tier Two, LOVE that trade for you (obviously), and I don't remember your post but I suggest you read my Secret Sauce post. It'll help you a ton. Welcome to Thiefville!
Aaron, let's start with - who IS active in your league?
Ayooo
ReplyDeleteBreaking News:
dude accepted the thompson + ant randolph for stephen jackson and john salmons.
My new sauciness is:
3ptm: 3.5
pts: 15.21
rebs: 5.45
assts: 3.83
stls: 1.28
blks: .56
I'm clearly really low in blocks now. But so high in 3's i can practically give up gordon, and you said this trade works with harris' upside? So done deal!?!!?
thanks so much pimpin
Absolutely SAUCY! Nice score!
ReplyDeleteThief, when making a trade, what should I use to make it seem balanced to the other guy?
ReplyDeleteI know who I want to trade for, but how do I make a 2-1 deal or 3-2 deal 'unrejectable' from their perspective? I try to use average stats and players ranks in them.
Am I doing something wrong? Or are the people in my league in love with their players?
Hey Thief. Me again. I posted this in your other blog but I wasn't sure if you were still answering questions there. After going back and forth he is offering me Salmons and B.Gordon for my Tyreke Evans and T. Parker. (He doesn't want Deng) Thoughts? My threes need some help bad but he won't go for the Deng Gordon straight offer.
ReplyDeleteAaron, you said Derons mgr is inactive? I'm sayin get on the MSG boards and post 'need a pg, who wants to trade'
ReplyDeleteanony, GREAT question. I'm gonna post on this but the BEST way to sell a trade is to PROVE with stats that his team benefits where he needs it. To do this use total, use average, use career, use 2008, damn use whatever makes the point best!
James, lol I just found it an replied over there.
Am i giving up too much if I deal pierce and perk for Arenas?
ReplyDeleteI offered parker and perk for arenas but i don't think he will bite since he has enough guards with good assists stats...
we'll see... just wanted to get your opinion on pierce+perk for arenas, in case I have to send another offer for arenas...
OK nm that last post. the owner just counter offered, arenas for pierce..
ReplyDeleteshould i do it?
so i read the secret sauce post...
ReplyDeleteunderstood, and here's the stats.
so i'm the team with
kobe, artest, udrih, fisher, bynum, harrington, gibson, david west, korver, pietrus, yijianlian, rip hamilton, iverson
f g - .469
f t - .75142
3pt - .7917
pts - 14.8667
reb - 4.95
ast - 2.3833
stl - 1.033
blk - .5583
t o - 1.8667
Questions:
1) any tips on how to sell high, buy low? let me know, plz.
2) is it too late right now to break in the top 25% of the league? 16 team league, week 8/20
3) would selling KOBE be my only move right now? I'm monitoring a few players right now, and looking at TMAC for later on in the season (if he ever does come back)...
Any advice on how to improve?
this is my first time playing F. BBall and I'm seeing that there are 3 main cat's that help build the rest of the 9 categrories - 3ptms, stls, and Blks...
~appreciate it...
after looking at pierce vs. arenas stats... i don't know if it's a good deal for me.
ReplyDeleteI want to offer parker + Dunleavy for arenas but then again, don't want to give up dunleavy for his 3ptm.
If i do that, i would probably pick up either jameer or kevin martin but you said wait at least another 2 weeks before even thinking about picking up kevin martin...
Senator, that's not enough for pierce. I would do the dunleavy deal tho, definitely, or try pierce for Deron.
ReplyDeleteYahoo guy, two things, first try to deal Kobe for Wade. Your team needs wades statline over kobe's. Also it isn't too late, but I do think you should read ALL my posts. Tons of advice in there.
Hey thief! My team is currently in 7th, how can I improve it? It is a ten-team league, standard 9 cats, and 11 roster spots (4 bench)
ReplyDeleteMy team is:
PG: Deron Williams
SG:Eric Gordon
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Troy Murphy
C: Carlos Boozer
UTIL: Marcus Camby
UTIL: Kevin Love
Bench: Brandon Jennings
Bench: Michael Beasley
Bench: Raymond Felton
Bench: Aaron Brooks
My secretsauce #'s are (all 11 players #'s factored in)
Points: 15.85
Assists: 4.18
Boards: 6.39
Treys: 1.45
Steals: 1.25
Blocks: .54
Any thoughts? I obviously am strong in 3's and assists and steals. I've been trying to sell high on jennings. Any targets you can think of that would benefit my team?
dunleavy and parker got rejected.
ReplyDeletei offered pierce for derron. well see how that goes.
it's tough since everyone in my league is attached to their players. and apparently nobody wants any of my players... :(
I'm thinking, Pierce + Perk + Tony Parker
ReplyDeletefor Dwill + Rashard
If he doesn't bite on that one, I will counter-offer MoWill + Rashard for the same 3...
Stodds, u need blocks man. Try Troy Murph and a bench player for Dwight Howard.
ReplyDeleteSennator, patience bro, patience.
Been offered two trades for steph curry, first deal I get Green, second deal I get Conley and c.lee. I'd drop hansbrough or ford, which deal, if any favours me value wise?
ReplyDeleteLove the post, I basically threw my season away and traded to land LeBron, Paul and Grangers as my 3 keepers this year and beyond. I hope to upgrade Granger for Wade or Durant by year's end.
ReplyDeleteAnony1, Green definitely.
ReplyDeleteAnony2, thanks playa! Good luck!
Points 17.56
ReplyDeleteAssists 4.84
Rebounds 5.19
Steals 1.25
Blocks .49
3p 1.25
I was offered JR smith, D. Wade and J. Noah
He Also have R. Lewis, Stephen Jackson, and Mo Williams on his roster.
Should i even be considering trading CP3?
Please need help.
Fang, dood, really? Come on! My post practically beats you over the head with the answer!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI'll beat myself in the head!
Hey Thief,
ReplyDeleteSo I offered Westbrook and Deng for Jamison and I received a counter-offer of Jamison and Noah for Westbrook Deng and Andrew Bynum... Should I take this deal?
What's your take on Noah and Bynum? Who's the better player to have?
What do think about this trade?
ReplyDelete>> I give: Mike Dunleavy
>> I get: Stephen Curry
Is Curry worth Mike Dunleavy? Or can I get like an Ellis with Mike Dunleavy?
Mat28
i gave
ReplyDeletewade, JT, kaman, ariza, and harris
i got
kobe, billups, duncan, j nelson, and t mac
howd i do?
Hey Thief,
ReplyDeleteDo you think Carl Landry will be as good long-term as he is performing right now? I just got offered J.R. Smith and Andrei Kirilenko for Landry.
League settings, my team, and sauce if you need:
10 team H2H league (11 cats, standard 8 as well as TOs, free throws made, and 3PT%)
Baron Davis

Ast: 2.92
Treys: 0.95
Stl: 1.05
Blk: 0.87
Thanks,
Anthony
Call me crazy I kind of regret drafting CP3 over LBJ.
ReplyDeleteSide questions: Do you still consider John Salmons a buy-low? that FG% is just KILLER. I know ... I know... you preach MEAN REVISION DAY-IN and DAY-OUT but how much longer will that be? It's starting to look like he's getting less minutes.
What are your fantasy projections for Tyreke Evans, Jason Thompson and Udrinh with the return of K-Mart?
Thanks.
Anony, ok you're crazy. Ha! But trust me, your league success will NOT be based on that decision. It'll come down to who you surround CP3 with.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about Salmons, I recently got him myself...for Courtney Lee. I can tell you for one, his production ain't much different than Lee's (except the steals, which I don't need). I have full confidence Salmons will get hot, until then he's on my bench and I'll spot start him.
As for the Kings, well my projections are that there will be less points to go around and less rebounds since Martin scores a lot an has a high fg%. But if you read the earlier blog posts, I dealt JT for Caron Butler back when JT was on fire.
12 team h2h standard 9 cat. ive done many trades since the draft, so i was wondering how i did.

ReplyDeleteHi Theif,
ReplyDeleteI am in a 12h2h league and somehow managing to come first but feel i need to build up my rebounds and assists.
Here is my team
Monta Ellis, Peja Stojakovic,Mike Dunleavy,
Rudy Gay,Mehmet Okur,John Salmons,Chris Bosh,
Al Jefferson,Spencer Hawes,Josh Howard
Michael Redd, Kevin Martin
Pts: 14.94
Treys: 1.025
Reb: 5.16
Ast: 2.19
Stl: 1.25
Blk: 0.58
TO: 1.6
I calculated this just on my last month stats as KMart skews them out alot.
I know i need to trade up but just dont know who to trade. I think i am going to outscore most teams in my league but struggle with assists and rebounds.
I was thinking of doing Gay for Gerald Wallace.
or doing an Arenas for Kmart Trade.
Salmans is annoything hec out of me... i want him out but he aint worth a bite.
I dumped Hawes picked up Al Thorton.
Any thoughts.
Rak.
Wassup thief, great site!

ok heres my team again. 12 team h2h standard 9 cat, 15 man roster, not 10.

idk how the secret suace numbers are for 15 man rosters, but i basically had this team from last week, and i got over 700 pts, and im leading again this week so far with 200+ in 2 days (all this without granger). but wats ur opinion? how can i improve in 3s and blcks.
Rak, you got bit by the injury bug bro, it'll pass so be patient. But if you can do Gay for Wallace, def do it!
ReplyDeleteAnony1, what up playa, you should try dealin Lee or Flynn for Okafor. If need be, I'd do both too. Good luck!
Anony2, Scola for Bargnani, that's perfect for you. Toss in Dunleavy to make it happen.
this is anony2. yea i was trying to get bargnani and gordon also from his team. this is the other guys team: brooks, jarret jack, wade, beasley, bonner, duncan, bargnani, gay, eric gordon, stuckey, pierce, murphy, delfino, hansburough, watson
ReplyDeleteshud i try to improve on anything besides 3s? i wana win cuz its for money so any advice that u can give, tell me. tell me everything!!! lol u knw ur shit, im not guna lie, and i just gotta get a good opinion from an expert.
Don't be greedy son, just go for bargs now. And my advice is read all my posts!!
ReplyDeleteso ur saying all i really have to do is get bargs? are there any other guys i shud go after to improve or is bargs all i need? not trying to be greedy, im just trying to win. lol
ReplyDeletei just read your blog and excellent work. my question is re: tier 1 player as a must have. i did land the first overall pick in my 14 team h2h league and was offered 1st (11) and 2nd rd (18)picks for my first overall and did accept it. i ended up with granger and big AL. my main consideration is that it is 14 team league and quality of starters is much more emphasized the a smaller league (ie 12). in your opinion, considering, the leauge size, was this a good trade for me or a bad one? i know you will say that granger is hurt and will do a big AL vs Lebron or paul comparison, but considering that granger is healthy what would you think of the trade.
ReplyDeletebtw, the guy picked kobe as his #1, i am in first place, guy that picked lebron is 6th and paul is 10 th. i know it doesnt tell you much about the league but if you are interested you can check my league and feel free to give advice
http://basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.co...
i will continue to read your blog and wait for your reply/advice/criticism. thanks
kepp up the good work.
Hey THief.
ReplyDeleteSo I ended up moving Tyreke Evans & T. Parker for John Salmons and Ben Gordon to boost my threes. I'm now wondering If I should hold onto Morrow. He has been so up and down and with Nelly you never know if the kids gonna play 20 or 40 minutes. Nobody in my league has interest in Morrow whatsoever so a 2 for 1 is basically out of the question.
FA's I'm interested in are, Mike Dunleavy, Beans (as stated above), Jamaal Crawford, Al Thornton and Lou Williams. I like Lou because I only have one PG in Rondo and eligbles in Wade and ROy. Thoughts?
For Beans I would drop Pryzbilla.

Hi Thief,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your time writing this one up.
As always I love all your work.
Cheers,
Fantasy Novice
sup thief..i been trying to get cp3 for the past week but hes not biting. im offering bosh. any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteAnony1, I think bargs is a perfect fit. Do that first n we can work from there.
ReplyDeleteAnony2, tiers ones matter more the bigger the league. As for your trade, I just don't like it. You say granger an big al v. Lbj, I say granger n big al v. Lbj and Paul pierce or Gerald Wallace or Lamarcus Aldridge, nuff said.
James, nice deal bro! Yeah u can dump morrow for Lou. Word is Lou will be back early.
Anony3, that's not a good deal for you. You need to read my Secret Sauce post, then run your sauce numbers, then we'll both know what u need. Report back!
Novice, I really appreciate the thanks.
Anony4, YUP offer more! Find out where he's weak and send over a deal that targets that.
sup thief
ReplyDeletei am the guy who posted regarding trading my first overall for a 1st and 2nd rd pick. i dont understand how you came up with lbj and pierce or g wallace vs granger and big al. this trade was a 2 for 1, or another way of looking at it is my 1st rd pick and my last rd pick for his 1st and 2nd rd. so the trade is basically lbj and belinelli for granger and big al. i dont know if that clears things up or changes your perception of the trade.
so i did calculate my "sauce" and was hoping you can give a full assesment of my team. i am in a 14 team h2h, we start 9 players and have 9 cats: fg%, 3ptm, FTM, pts, rebs, ast, stl, blk, TO. on top of the six that you usually ask i also added the other 3 just as to paint the whole picture.
here is my sauce:
pts = 16.37
reb = 6.81
ast = 3.42
stl = 1.2
blk = 0.85
3ptm = 1
fg% = 46.5%
FTM = 3.23
TO = 2.17
here are my players
granger
big al
brook
j kidd
lamarcus
j rich
jr aka earl
ant rand
m gasol
s curry
s hawes
tyreke
takes for taking the time in criticing my team. comment/advice/suggestions are welcome.

Ahhhh, so you ended up with 3 picks in the first two rounds? Yeah that works! No wonder you're winning!
ReplyDeleteDo me a favor an subscribe to the blog so I can follow you better. All the anony posts get confusing. You can see the sauce says your team is dominant, my advice is to sell reke (as my latest post shows), and don't be afraid to work granger in that deal to get a tier one back!
Wondering if you can check this trade out for me:
ReplyDelete10 Team Std. Roto 8 Cats , No TOs:
Billups & Gay for Rondo & Jennings
I don't need points, I need assists, and he has a prilferation of them. To be honest, I don't like Billups on my team, I'm worried they might scale back minutes and save his body for June. I don't like that Gay has been playing better, I'm also not sure how Jennings will play for the balance of the season.

ReplyDeletejust signed up. My name is ritzi24
is there a more in depth article regarding the sauce? Should I aim for dominant 5-4 win or win 6-3 7-2 but with small margin in most cats?
Meatloaf and rizzie, I have a list of old posts on the right hand side of the page. Read the post titled Secret Sauce, then report back.

ReplyDelete10-Team league 8 Cat Roto, no TOs (how much do I need to adjust your metrics to match a 10-team league?)
Here's my sauce:
PTS: 17.89
AST: 2.9
REB: 7.29
3PM: 0.96
STL: 1.27
BLK: .96
Roster:
C. Billups
M. Ellis
K. Durant
J. Smoove
A. Bargnani
D. Lee
K. Love
R. Gay
C. Frye
A. Horford
Now, I haven't had these guys all season, I've made several trades to get where I am, so my sauce isn't true to what I've accumulated thusfar.
Also, as an update, I just read one of your latest posts, and I would REALLY like to land Paul...do you think Billups/Ellis would be prudent and/or feasible?
Meat, now we're talking! I think CP3 is exactly what u need, ESP his assists. There's no need to scale your sauce, we can 'see' how low u r in assists n treys. Def go for billups n Ellis for Paul, that's perfect.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to see when someone smert agrees with you!
BTW, as of two days ago, I consider this blog to be fantasy GOLD (kind of like when ANY of my players are playing the Knicks...only longer lasting). Thanks for all the time you spend on this goodness.
Meat, thanks man. Spread the word!
ReplyDeleteWell, I did it! The trade is waiting approval and should be processed by Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I do have mixed feelings. Where I just traded my 2nd and 4th pick for the 1st pick in my league, I'm still uneasy given the fact that I just gave up two top 15 fantasy performers (per the stats) for one single player. This does give me much more versatility though, so the upside is a good thing.
Also, I no longer have to worry about the potential for Billups' minutes being shaved slightly to save his aging body, or for Monta's body breaking down after 40 minute games over and over, or the potential that Monta could be traded (which I believe would hurt his production).
For my first year though, I think I'm starting to learn the inns and outs of trading (or thievery, if you will). Obtaining J Smoove for D. Rose the second week of the season was a bonus, or getting Horford for Thompson and CDR (injured) this week, or getting David West for a waning Blatche.
Though, if I could do it all over again, I would have had more of an overriding strategy, I definitely will use the Sauce to be my guide. That said, thanks again for your help, and here's my latest sauce (with Iverson in the lineup)
