Buy Low: Antawn Jamison - Sell High: Josh Smith

SELL HIGH: JOSH SMITH - F - ATLANTA HAWKS

In Fantasy Sports, there is only one rule to remember, Don't Fall In Love With Your Players! I know many of you out there are cursing my existence for even suggesting Josh Smith might be a Sell High here. I know I know, all those blocks he gives you. So what, go trade for another shot blocker. Swap him for Dwight Howard. Must I remind you all of last year for Smith? Talk about a buy low gone wrong! Anyway, enough of that, let's get to the numbers:

JOSH SMITH
CAT   2009   Career
PTS   15.6   14.1
REB   8.5    7.4
AST   3.7    2.7
3's   0.0    0.3
STL   1.5    1.2
BLK   2.5    2.4
TO    2.0    2.5
FG%   53.4   45.8
FT%   58.8   67.4

Dominating in almost every single category. In fact, blocks is the only one he seems to be pacing his career numbers in. I wish it were the other way around, I wish Josh were just outpacing in blocks cause I could see him keeping that up. But shooting 53% vs a career of 46%! Almost half a turnover less per game?! These are the kind of numbers that are going to snap back, and they'll do it quickly. Deal him off for something more stable while there's a chance. I love offering him for Dwight Howard right now. Almost the same stat line, except Howard is a little below his career numbers...

BUY LOW: Antawn Jamison - F - Washington Wizards
My God could the Wizards use a nice spark and some cohesiveness. Tough last second loss to my Celts last night. Whatever, it's a long season and the negativity will turn around, trust me. Jamison came flaming out the gate after missing the first couple weeks to injury, scoring 31 points in his first night on the floor. Well after 5 games of top notch production he's definitely cooled off. From watching that game last night, I don't think it's injury related, it's more defense (KG) related. Expect a bounce back, which should come pretty quickly. This is a rare talent, the 3's he hits round off a premier stat line. Let's go to the numbers:

ANTAWN JAMISON
CAT   2009   Career
PTS   19.7   19.9
REB   8.6    8.0
AST   1.2    1.7
3's   1.6    1.0
STL   1.2    1.1
BLK   0.5    0.4
TO    1.3    1.7
FG%   46.9   45.6
FT%   58.6   73.2

It's amazing how much FT% can affect a players value isn't it?! Jamison's never played a full season and shot below 70% from the line, this number will rebound. There's no such thing as a guy who can nail treys like he can, but can't hit a shot from the FT line 7/10 times. Everything else is in line with what has been a great career. Jamison is one of those fantasy monsters like a Gerald Wallace or Jason Richardson or CP3 or LBJ, the type of guy who gives you bonuses in the stat line. He'll give you the same big man stats as most run of the mill PF's, and oh yeah he drops in one and a half treys a game. Huge. Go lock this guy up before he bounces back. Try offering similar position, currently hot, soon to be chumps like Frye or Gallinari. You never know, you just might get a steal. And if they ask, tell em The Thief sent ya!

  2. whoops. sorry. i meant to do this comment.

    12 team league. H2H. 9 standard cats

    my team:
pg: kidd, calderon, iverson, tyreke evans
    sg: morrow, cdr, mayo
    sf: lbj, marvin williams
pf: b. lopez, nene, & varejao
    c: m. gasol
(all my pf's can play the c position as well)
(in need of reb and blocks since greg oden went down and i picked up varejao)

i have erick dampier on waivers and am dropping varejao for him at the moment... should i drop marvin williams instead for dampier and keep varejao??

i'd have 3 pf's and 2 c's. but all can play c's. should i do this? or drop varejao??

(could also use more 3s... but marivn williams doesnt give that many)

pf&c: b. lopez, m. gasol, nene, and varejao

I can either trade calderon & marvin williams for amare and drew gooden.. then drop gooden for andre miller and drop varejao for grant hill (using #5 waiver)

or i could keep calderon, and just drop varejao for erick dampier

any ideas?? (my team is weak in reb, 3s, and blocks after greg oden went down)

  9. This is a 10 team H2H relatively deep...

  10. Is
    Terry/Pierce
    for
    Stoudmire
    too much?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ramm! You gotta sell high on Mo Williams and Bargnani. Try bringing home Aldridge and Stoudemire or Howard.

Broski, great team man, well done. You need trade ups, 2-1 deals. Something like Scola and Lee for Aldridge ya know. Use your bench to improve your starters

Anony, I think you'd make out in the end, but fact is right now pierce alone should be enough to buy Amare. Stand your ground bro.

  12. Hello What do you think about Yi
Can he keep 10-7 and 1 plus blocks?

  13. 8 team roto league. Problem is I'm not sure how to "adjust the numbers accordingly for more or less than 12 teams". Please explain.

    PTS: 19.03
    AST: 3.23
    REB: 6.54
    3PTM: 1.16
    ST: .94
    BLK: .96

I've been offered Joe Johnson, Al Horford and Antawm Jamison for my Kevin Durant. Here's my team:

    Nash
    Durant
    Mo Williams
    Granger
    Rudy Gay
    Bargnani
    Amar'e
    Kaman
    Westbrook
    Frye
    Jason Thompson
    Brendon Haywood
    Love
    Scola
    Kevin Martin

In your opinion should I do this trade and if so who should I drop?

Also, Calderon, Salmons, Kirilenko, Artest and Rip Hamilton are on waivers/FA.

Dude accepted this offer: mo will+lamar for pau gasol, ya dIGG!!

    you my boy!

p.s. Jacob, I'd take that trade in a second, you're obviously in a small league but with joe and atwan you can drop haywood and frye. I'm no theif but you getting a sickass deal in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jacob, I'd have to agree with ramm here, that's a smart deal for you to take, ESP with Granger down. Do it and then work the 2-1 market, try dealing bargnani for Aldridge. Man tho, injury bug hit u hard, sorry bout that.

Ramm, what up playa! Sick deal, you be Thieving now! That's gonna have an immediate impact. Be sure to stroke the suckas ego a bit, we NEED to hit him up for another trade later on!

  16. Is Amare still buy low???
If then I want to get him with my BigAl and Hedo(or T-young)

    His squad is
    KIdd
    Foye
    Williams
    Flynn
    Morrow
    Millsap
    Ronnie Brewer
    Amare
    Randolph
    Duncan
    Rudy
    Ilyasova
    Harden
    Okafor
    Courtney lee
    Jarret Jack

I'm giving both Hedo and Al Jefferson so I should get 1 more solid player.
Who should I get with Amare?

  18. Hey Aaron, go for Rose. He'll be a good keeper going forward for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I know its the complete opposite of what your post said...but I was just curious how you compared the two. I know JSmith can't keep it up, but do you think he's better overall?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Without really knowing my stats, should I ship Antawn Jamison and CDR for Josh Smith and Udrih? I'm in need of a second backup PG.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ugh, Udrih is garbage. Is conley on your FA wire, he's been hot lately. Josh hasn't learned to shoot well enough to be in AJ's class. But he's getting there.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nah conley's off the wire. not many good pgs on the wire...there is curry and hinrich and w. bynum tho.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'd rather see you pick up Curry than deal for Udrih bro.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Alright. So who should I drop in general then? Possible people are: Perkins, CDR and I suppose Dunleavy, but I want to hold on to him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. CDR, or Dunleavy, but I'd say CDR. And I'd rather hold curry than one of them, def.
