In vintage form, I've dug up a quality Buy Low player and two super Sell High players for your Superbowl Sunday delight. No fluff today, let's get right down to business.
Buy Low: Antawn Jamison - PF - Washington Wizards
What makes a guy a Buy Low? A string of games where he significantly under performs his talent level. What makes a guy a super Buy Low? When he hits a slump and Joe Schmoe sportswriter gets out there and starts telling his owners 'He's too old, he's lost it'. That's a recipe for straight thievin! From Yahoo Sports:

F Antawn Jamison is having another stellar season, it is equally true that the best player on the Wizards' roster is starting to show his age. Jamison, who will turn 34 shortly after the end of the season, is averaging 20.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, numbers that many argued should have sent him to his third All-Star Game as a reserve later this month. But for those who see the team every day, he is starting to show the tell-tale signs of age. In four of the Wizards' last eight games heading into Saturday night's game in Orlando, Jamison failed to score in double digits. In one of the four games in which he did reach double figures, he scored 11 points in a blowout loss to the New York Knicks. And in a loss to Boston, Jamison was just 2-for-17 from the floor. "As he gets older you're going to continue to see more and more stretches like that. It's just a fact of life," said an Eastern Conference scout last week. "He's just not getting any younger."
I'm going to go out on a little limb here and say that Jamison will be just fine for the final two months of the season, as far as age and conditioning and performance goes. Fact of the matter is Jamison has been absolutely stellar this year, offering that rare combination of high rebounds and high treys. On to the numbers!
STAT 2009 Last Week
PTS 20.6 9
AST 1.3 1.3
REB 8.9 7
3'S 1.4 0.3
STL 1.1 1.7
BLK 0.2 0.3
FG% .453 .256!!!!
What should immediately jump off the page for you here, is that our amazingly brilliant buddy Joe Schmoe is saying Jamison is looking old because his shot is off. You can see it in his FG%, you can see it in his scoring, you can see it in his 3's, but everything else is pretty much in line. What you're seeing here all derives from one 2-17 shooting performance against the Boston Celtics on 2/1. If you follow me on twitter, you noticed I instantly issued the Buy Low call, knowing that this game was so bad for him, his numbers would get skewed down and all the Joe Schmoes would have a story.
Take advantage of this situation, Jamison is one of the best fantasy basketball commodities you can have, and this situation likely will not last long.
Sell High: Andrei Kirilenko - F - Utah Jazz
Another guy I hammered on Twitter the day we found out he was going to be a starter. Some of you don't know this, but not too far back, Mr. AK47 was a top 10 draft pick year in and year out. During the 03-04 season, AK averaged 16 points, 8 boards, 3 blocks, 2 steals and a Trey a game, oh yeah and three dimes too. Unreal stat stuffer. But injuries, confidence and playing time have plagued him since then, along with the Jazz terrible roster moves which gives them a good 12 guys who can play the 3/4.
Well, AK finally made it back to the starting lineup and boy has he made the best of it. Over the last month Kirilenko rates number 18 overall in standard formats, anchored by his usual stat stuffing line (15 pts, 5 boards, 2.5 dimes, 2 steals, 1.5 blocks). The real kicker though is his FG% which has spent the last month in the 60% range!
I actually think AK will keep up these numbers, this is no fluke or mean reversion or hot streak, this is a guy playing to his talent level. AK is this good. That is, he is this good in every category save for one, the FG%. This is a 47% career shooter. This is a guy who takes spot jumpers, range shots. The FG% will come down, that's a given. Cash this puppy in before it does and be sure to bring home a nice Tier Three, or package a deal for a Tier Two in return. Oh, and target the Old Timer in your league, cause like me, he's likely to remember back in the day when ole AK47 was the main man.
Sell High: Corey Brewer - G - Minnesota Timberwolves
I'd say about half of you out there reading this are thinking 'who?!' and the other half (who also happen to own Brewer) are saying 'Oh no way!'. Hahaha yes, hard to believe but Corey Brewer has managed to make his way onto the Sell High list for the week here.
For group one, who is asking themselves 'Who?', over the last month Brewer is averaging 16 points, 4 boards, 2.5 dimes, 1.3 steals, half a block and 2.1 treys. All while shooting 47%. The treys are the real kicker here, taking every defender by surprise.
For group two, who are saying 'Oh no way!', as they likely grabbed him off the FA wire a week or two ago and have already fallen in love. Know this: prior to this season Brewer averaged 6 points, 3.5 boards, 1.5 dimes, and while his MPG were much less than they have been this year, they were still north of 20.
Look if Brewer is sitting out there on your FA wire right now, he probably shouldn't be unless it's a shallow league. But if you're in a deeper league and were lucky enough to sneak brewer onto your squad, now is the time to deal. It should be pretty easy to snag a nice Tier Three player (and injured Mo Williams perhaps) in exchange. Be sure to tout Brewers treys and steals in the process, and target the owner that needs em.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Feels good to write out a nice long post of vintage style. Been awhile. But now that I'm done, it's your turn. Are there any Buy Lows or Sell Highs you'd like to point out?
