Head to Head Strategies: Player Correlations

Here’s something you probably don’t think about very often but can have a huge impact on your weekly head to head matchups in any fantasy sport. It has to do with having too many players from the same team, or too many players with any kind of similarities, and how that impacts your game. In statistics, the term is correlation. Correlation is a powerful explanatory statistic that you can harness for success.
During the 2009 Fantasy Baseball season, one of the managers in my league was dominating his regular season matchups. He had an extremely powerful lineup anchored by three specific players: Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Raul Ibanez. These three guys all had excellent seasons, and in fact for Ibanez, it was his best season ever. They all also play for the same team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
This manager entered the playoffs that year as the number one seed in the league, and proceeded to get bounced by the number 8 seed in the first week of matchups. It was a stunning defeat as we all expected his team to at least make the semifinals. Errr, they all did. What this manager hadn’t properly accounted for was the power of correlation. Situationally, during the first week of the fantasy playoffs the Philadelphia Phillies faced three former Cy Young award winning pitchers. As a whole the team had difficulty producing runs, and none of their players produced anything fantasy relevant. This is a risk you need to avoid in head to head matchups.
Correlation is a measure of the magnitude of strength of the relationship between two variables (or in this case three). Without running the actual numbers, it doesn’t take a genius to see that, on average, when one of the Philadelphia Phillies hitters has a good game, the other hitters have a good game too. If Raul Ibanez knocks in a home run, it’s likely that Chase Utley and Ryan Howard were on base, thus scoring runs themselves. If Chase Utley isn’t getting on base, then there’s no one to score when Ryan Howard smacks a double, and thus no RBI. In baseball, correlations have a strong impact on your game, and it’s wise to not own too many hitters from the same team. The same does not hold for pitchers, or pitchers and hitters, because (again as you would assume) there isn’t much correlation between how a pitcher does one night, and how the next pitcher does the next night, or how the pitcher does and how the hitters do.

We see much of the same football too. If your QB is playing against a tough defense, I wouldn’t want to own his primary receiver too. No matter how good they are, the chance that the QB has an off day, or plays a tough defense, just when it matters most, is too high for my liking. The same thinking goes for Tight Ends; however it does not go for running backs in general. This is because teams tend to be defensively focused; they’re good at stopping either the pass or the run, rarely both.
Basketball is the one we care about the most. Correlations show up in basketball just as much, but in different ways. I hold Chris Paul and David West on my team, which isn’t an issue in ROTO but is a no no in H2H. However this isn’t due to a team correlation, or fears of them playing a good defense, but instead is due to player correlations. Fact is, when CP3 does well, West does well. When CP3 steals the ball and runs the floor, the dish off is going to David West following him. As rare as it might be, I’m not going to bet my entire season during playoff week that CP3 won’t go cold, thus making two of my players go cold. Same thing goes for Steve Nash, Jason Richardson, and Amar’e Stoudemire. Both J-Rich and Amar’e are highly dependent on Nash running the floor well, they need him to do well. If he struggles, they struggle.
If you haven’t gotten the point yet, let me spell it out clearly. You don’t want to own guys that play for the same team as your top PG’s. The risk is too high that they will have a bad game during playoffs, thus negating two or even three of your players on that one game (or stretch of games). You don’t want to own two (or more) players dependent on the same PG either, so if you’re holding J-Rich and Amar’e on the same squad, listen up. This all (of course) highly depends on the point guard. In general, guys like Nash, Deron, CP3, and Baron Davis are the highest risk names. The other players on their team don’t generally score well when their PG plays poorly. It’s different on say, the Celtics or even the Wizards, where there’s players that can drive and score (like Paul Pierce or Caron Butler) or work the post to draw in defenders (like KG). Other cases, where there are two distributors, are OK too, like the Hawks (Bibby and Joe J) or the Cavaliers (LBJ and Mo Will).
Remember, in a H2H league, it’s all about the playoffs. Give yourself the best chance to win and take the least amount of risk doing so. Learn about the players on your squad, find out how they score and who they are dependent upon to do so. Then set yourself up for success when it matters most. This is how WE dominate.
Hope you all like the new site designs!

  1. Hey Thief,

I'm having trouble discerning if the Dirk/Kidd combo is or is not covered by this? Kidd helps the whole team in general, but I think Dirk is fine enough on his own to get his own shots.

    Thanks,
    Anthony

  2. I agree, and specifically left them out.

  3. yeah love the thief design. Great article too. Correlation is definitely true in Fantasy Football. QB to WR dependency can cause you to lose big.

  4. year before last I had, kurt warner and boldin, cruised through the regular season to a 12 and 1 record, lost in the first round of the playoff when warner stunk it up that week...this year road matt schaub and vincent jackson(jamal charles pick up helped).won it all...great article.

  5. The Heat are very interested in trying to sign free-agent-to-be LeBron James next summer, according to the Miami Herald.
    WOW that would be crazy.

  9. @Shaff
Nash is back out on the bench, looks fine just has a stitched up lip. I'm sure he'll be back in the second half.

  11. I just read a news update on Duncan, it goes like this:

Duncan is getting the night off after logging 40 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Lakers. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has rested his stars on the second night of back-to-backs in the past, and he plans to do it more frequently over the second half of this season. This could turn into quite the headache for Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobilli owners, so make sure you pay close attention to the Spurs' schedule going forward.
    (Rotowire.com)

What should I do with Duncan?

  13. Another warning about NY players if your sf and finals are the 22nd of march to april 4th. NY has 5 games in those two weeks. That is the least out of any team. That's the standard weeks for them on Yahoo. So look out for that.

  15. Hi thief, its me again. And its still about kevin martin trade.
After my Hedo + Aldridge for Kevin Martin + Corey Maggette got rejected. I got proposed:

    I give:
    Hedo
    Aldridge
    Duncan

    I get:
    Kevin Martin
    Elton Brand
    Roy Hibbert

    The FA include:
    Bibby

    Hakim Warrick

    Should I do the trade?

  18. hey thief,

what you think about channing frye for ben gordon straight up?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm with Shaff here Jason, ask for better than hibbert.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks for the advise.
    My team:
    Jose Calderon
    Manu
    Devin Harris
    Jameer Nelson
    Hedo

    Andrew Bynum
    Duncan

Should I take Duncan out of this trade?
Or should i sell Bynum high before gasol is back?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Errrr, you gettin Frye? Cause if not, keep lookin bro.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was offered Pau Gasol and Dirk for my Joe Johnson, tim duncan and zach randolph. Do i take it? Your trade analyzer says ink does that sounds right?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jason, yeah I'd take Duncan out. It's either that or ask for Nash, which is unlikely. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  24. what do you guys think about my dwill/noah for davis/jsmith?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Derek, I wouldn't, I'd ask for more. If you were getting stats you needed, I'd say fine. But not just outright.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Waldo, really? Noahs been pretty consistent, and Baron is in the midst of his longest stretch without injury. On paper it looks OK, but I'd ask for a buffer given BD's history.

    ReplyDelete
  27. trade machine said thievin, had to ask what the author thought. i factored in the bd injury risk and where i am in league. not the best for me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. how about i counter with my joe johnson, tim duncan, zach randolph, allen iverson for Pau gasol, dirk, and Bargnani?

    ReplyDelete
  29. YUP, AI has little value. I like it! Ink it playa!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah it doesn't discount for potential future injuries yet, only past ones.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey Thief,

I am seriously considering a Foye for R.Lewis trade at the moment, everyone who owns Lewis is frustrated beyond belief with him right now, this is the ultimate buy low story out there, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I swear on my mother I'm sittin here thinkin of how I can package a deal for Lewis! No lie. It's all the negativity peeps have about him. TIME TO STRIKE! Wish I had a chip like Foye. I'm thinkin Dunleavy n AI for me. Long shot there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. hey thief, thanks for making h2h strategies..

    ReplyDelete
  34. thief, a trade has been proposed to me..
    i get: josh smith, mayo,caron,chauncey
    i give:durant,love,davis,charlie v

    am i robbec?

    ReplyDelete
  35. thief would u take kevin martin for my lewis and j-howard....thats what ive been offered

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great post! really speaks to my team. I knew all of this correlation stuff before but i jsut couldnt seem to part with my core guys.

I have Nash, Amare, and Frye. All very valuable in my league which has 3% as a category.

Any opinions on moves I can make... I'd be keeping NAsh no question... unless it was for cp3

    ReplyDelete
  37. he accepted...very happy about getting dirk and pau

    ReplyDelete
  38. which trade is best, I am weak at assists and 3's based on the trade analyzer

    Mello/Landry for Kidd/Frye
    Mello/Beno for Kidd/Rose
    Mello/Landry for Galinari

    ReplyDelete
  39. JB, walk away bro

    Aaron, INK IT!

Nick, why not move Nash for Deron? Either that or Frye has to go. Aim for Rashard Lewis as a buy low with similar stats. Try a 2-2 and get a lol on the back end.

Derek, I'm happy bout you gettin Bargs. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Golfin, I like the first two, particularly the second one. How'd you like the Analyzer?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm dropping Griffin and wondering which one of these I should grab from the FA wire:

    Rasheed Wallace
    Josh Howard
    Mike Miller
    Mike Dunleavy
    Roy Hibbert
    Rudy Fernandez
    Matt Barnes

    What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Christo ol pal! Join my Griffin woes! I wanted to grab Ridnour but he's gone too. I'd go back to Miller and wait for injury clarification. I'm hearing he'll be back soon....

    ReplyDelete
  43. Should I offer Wilson Chandler and Carl Landry for Nene and Calderon? Also does Bosh and Calderon fit the description of player correlations or is it more like Dirk and Kidd where they don't effect each other as much?

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's awesome, very helpful to tell me where my team is weak specifically...
This guy also has Lamar Odom, Haywood, Jason thompson and Felton. Should I work them in there somehow or just go with the the first two there? I gotta move quick with this guy..

    ReplyDelete
  45. Y4, love that deal. And no need to worry bout bosh, he can score all by himself. If anything, Jose is a lol dependent on Bosh. No cause for concern tho.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Golf, sure ask him to toss in Felton with kidd n Frye. See if he bites..

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thief,

so you dont think I should move amare?

I have no problem moving frye for lewis. my one concern is that there is one week during my h2h playoffs where orlando has only 2 games. whereas, phoenix has 3 each week consistently.

As for nash for Dwill. with my league and 3%, using basketball monster as a guide, nash is ranked 3rd behind cp3 and lebron. whereas deron has half his value... not in real life but according to their formula. I know it's pretty close and i would do a 2 for 2 and try to upgrade a little on the second, but dwill's owner consider's them equal in value, if not favours dwill a little more

    ReplyDelete
  48. hey thief. thought i'd sound of yet again on the whole randy foye situation - and more specifically, my strategy to hold onto him for a few games and watch his value rise.

foye put up another nice line tonight!
sure, his numbers were slightly below his averages over the previous 4 games (he was rated 23rd in my league over the past 7 days!!!). but i think another solid stat line helps his value rather than hurting it (especially in my league, where owners seem careful/skeptical).
it adds to a growing string of nice games by the young man, offering the appearance of a more sure thing than what was perceived just a few days ago.

you should consider an article on selling high too early - particularly in cases where a player sees a spike in minutes as a result of a major injury or suspension to someone else on his team.
here's what i'm saying...owners who sold high on foye several days ago, could have flipped him for even better value had they waited for him to string together several gems. not only is foye now worth more to me in trade scenarios, i also benefitted from his stellar play over the past week (again, 23rd IN MY LEAGUE!!!).

    ReplyDelete
  49. thief...im about to drop blake griffin

pick up omri cassipi or hakim warrick??

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nick, run for Lewis then and get the solid value in a 2-2. I fully expect Shard to be at the top of his game by then. Try to game the playoff week with the second guy in the deal, ya feel me.

Move Frye now, with his value high. Once you ink it, we'll work on Amare ( maybe for big al?).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Loho, I'm goin Warrick myself, at least for a week or so. He's kind of a lottery ticket.

Ben, there's never anything wrong with takin your profit. Some guys snagged him off the FA for free, then turned the quick profit. Maybe they got a tier four guy, maybe you get s tier three, but don't celebrate til you ink the deal. Careful you don't fall in love bro. If he were better than Gilbert or butler, the wiz woulda had him in all season north of 30 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thief, he def. didn't go that with throwing in felton. should i go with Mello/Beno for Kidd/Rose
    or Mello/Landry for Kidd/Frye?

    ReplyDelete
  53. This guy also has Jack. Who do you think will take over at pg Calderon or Jack? I'm thinking Calderon but Jack over the last month has averaged better.

    ReplyDelete
  54. good point thief. i've given a lot of thought to making sure i don't fall in love. i'm currently strategizing how i'm gonna move him.
i'm looking to make a big offer that would also include selling bynum (another beauty game going tonite!) and hopefully offloading richard jefferson. these are the teams i'm looking to target:

    A
jameer, dunleavy, iggy, landry, odom, kenyon, bogut, speights, dirk, flip, gilbert (haha), charlie v, chandler, varejao

    B
andre miller, harden, willie g, jr smith, frye, murphy, brand, boykins, b lopez, dwill, delonte, tt, casspi, diaw

    C
duhon, crawford, roy, t young, horford, gallo, mcdeyss, jrich, granger, salmons, ilgauskas, jhoward, gooden, bmiller

    D
watson, ginobili, barbosa, brewer, blatche, marion, juwon, kaman, peja, pau, sjax, sheed, kg, hinrich

    MY TEAM:
brooks, wade, westbrook, foye, jefferson, haslem, barnes, bynum, c lee, gay, gwall, rip, glen davis, jared jeffries

categories i'm looking to improve are rebounds, blocks and fg%. i can afford to sacrifice points and assists, but i need a decent return on 3's as well. any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  55. as if i haven't posted enough already...
i'm also looking to make a buy low offer on kobe, how would you approach that?

    ReplyDelete
  56. This guy also has Salmons. Is he a buy low case or will he probably stay around where he is and not get better as the season continues? If he is a buy low should I throw in Andre Miller and grab him?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yo Thief, let's talk about the statline of DeJuan Blair. We know already based on his solid statlines in the past that he does work. Now with Duncan is resting tonight. He finally received the minutes he needs to beast. Check this statline:
28pts 21rebs(10 orebs) 2steals 2blks 65%FG 6FTM. I been waiting to see this guy get his mins. All that in 31mins.

    ReplyDelete
  58. thief, you're brilliant man.

i wanted your opinion on these five guys: josh howard, marvin williams, hakim warrick, luke ridnour, and ron artest.

    my lineup:
    b.roy
    AI
    casspi
    g wallace
    ray allen
    d granger
    lou wills
    k perk
    d rose
    KG
    wilson chand
    yi ji

    thanks thief!

    ReplyDelete
  59. golfin, try the melo/beno combo since Beno's value goes down more and more every day.

Ben, try sendin those three for Frye and Lopez, or Ginobili and KG.

Y4, the gig is Jose's. Salmons WAS a buy low, but he's about right now.

Q, take that and put it in your back pocket. Some day down the road a spot will open up for him to get minutes and that's when this info is vital. I agree, DJB will have a very bright career.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ QWAN,

chuck hayes also had some decent stats (nothin compared to dejuan but i saw that too). you think hayes'll be able to continue these type of numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  61. vic, i think i'd be holding Josh Howard or Ridnour (depending on your stat needs), over cassipi. KevMart back Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  62. i like where you're going with those suggestions, but i'd prefer a man-for-man trade. the back end of my team is thin already, and the WW is BARE.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @ Victor, Yeah I can see Hayes getting numbers like that. He gets minutes quite a bit on a regular basis because the Rockets run a small lineup like Golden State. No Yao Ming or T-Mac any more. So they just Run plug their big men into Centers, pf, and sf rotations all the time.

@Thief Yeah I'm definitely taking mental note on Blair because I have been watching the whole year to see him finally get his just do. I wish I could make a move, but it wont matter because Duncan is only resting right now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ok, I offered Chandler and Landry for Nene and Calderon. I mentioned that Chandler is hot and that it wasn't a fluke because he's been doing it for a month now. I also said that Nene was injury prone and that Jack has been doing better than Calderon. Hopefully he accepts. Thanks for the help.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So much OT tonight that it is like Fantasy Heaven on the statlines. Everyone has a hot hand, which I hate because it makes it hard to buy their players because people fall in love with their players too much and wont trade lol.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey Thief,

So I'm starting to think Rashard's numbers are down b/c Carter's been chucking up the majority of the shots, and now Pietrus and Barnes have followed suit. He's just not grabbing boards or doing anything else it seems...

Do you think I should try to trade Lewis for say, Caron Butler or Rudy Gay, or will there be am upcoming BUYLOW post featuring Lewis? Is there maybe someone I should target, maybe do a package deal for?

    Here's my team again:
    PG: D-Will, Rondo, Mo-Will
    SG: Wade, Roy, Kevin Martin
    SF: Iguodala, Lewis
    PF: Jamison, Love
C: Al Jefferson, B-Lopez, Bargnani, Noah

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. thief you have any word on pierce, heard he tweaked his knee, wondering if there's anything I should be worried about?

    ReplyDelete
  68. dw, what is that like a 6 team league?

    ReplyDelete
  69. ben, then try Gallo, J-Rich and Horford. See if he bites. If not, send him back over and swap in Salmons.

AC, he looked fine to me during the game. I saw him hobble for a few seconds, but he was fine. They pulled all the starters because it wasnt a game after Q1.

DW, will there be a buy low post on him, likely. But if you could get Butler or Gay, thats not a bad deal anyways

    ReplyDelete
  70. I got trade proposed to me for my Thompson for His Aaron Brooks? Should I take that deal I have a boatload of pts & treys. I really need to score assists, steals, and FG%.

    ReplyDelete
  71. thanks thief, i sent the proposal!
this owner is VERY inactive, but is also in dead last, so hopefully he's following tonite and bites.

    ReplyDelete
  72. WOW Q, I'd take it. I mean, I remember early on when JT and KebMart were on the floor together and JT wasn't doing much. INK IT!

    ReplyDelete
  73. qwan, that's amazing! i own brooks, and while he can be frustrating at times (last night), he also delivers some phenomenal games (tonight). i'm betting the other owner based his offer on last night's game, and didn't even look at tonight's box score. you thieved without even trying to!

    ReplyDelete
  74. He took it off the table. I might have to thieve this guy for offering and then pulling it off the table.

    ReplyDelete
  75. thief?, my bynum and foye for harris and aldridge?? what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  76. thief, any thoughts on buying low for kobe?

brooks, wade, westbrook, foye, gay, gwall, jefferson, haslem, bynum, rip, c lee, barnes, g davis, jeffries

    ReplyDelete
  77. p.s. i'd DEFINITELY be willing to offer a 2-1 trade in kobe's case.

    ReplyDelete
  78. @ ben yeah he proposed it two days ago. I didnt need brooks overall because he will throw up a clunker the next game. He shoots so poorly. And all he does is score and hit treys. He provides minimal assists.

I have Dirk, Frye, Gallo, Joe Cool, T Parker, Foye, P. Gasol, B Lopez, Nelson, Ariza, Terry,Thompson, Biedrins, and S-Jax.

It would have been good to thieve him with Thompson for his Brooks. But long run it wouldnt help me lol.

    ReplyDelete
  79. that's true, you're guard heavy as is. but any time you can get the better player ya gotta go for it, then flip a PG for a big.
and i agree that brooks doesn't get as many assists as i'd like from a point, but he's still good for 5 a night.

    ReplyDelete
  80. nhern, i like it, harris looked fine to me tonight.

ben, i just don't see someone selling him low right now. Usually, Kobe owners fall in love hard and fast. It would take Wade, and I don't know that you want to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. thanks thief! and you're right, wade is not on the negotiating table right now.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Q, how'd you land dirk, joe and pau? that's some solid thievery there!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hey thief!

Moving Ellis and Ariza for Nowitzki and Tony Parker. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  84. erik, the chances the other GM accepts that offer are slim to none.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hi thief, how about:
    I get:
Kevin Martin, Elton Brand, Chris duhon
    I give:
    Hedo, Aldridge, Andrew Bynum

The problem is that I will have no SF at all, i need to pick one up from FA

    ReplyDelete
  86. Is it worth keeping Griffin in my IR in a keeper league?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hey Thief,

What are your thoughts on Elton Brand and Dunleavy?

Should I hang onto these guys?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Thief,

What do you think of this trade: I give kobe and deron for Cp3 and rashard.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Howdy Thief,
I'm having trouble with David Lee. I'm not disappointed in his performance but I'm just wondering who I can get for him. I was offered Joe Johnson but I believe I can get better. I need points and assists, but Joe Johnson's inconsistency is bringing down his value.

    ReplyDelete
  90. hey thief,

is it time for me to let go of terry? cant seem to get a trade for him. thinking of picking up either maggette, foye, or kenyon martin.

most likely foye simply because i don't have enough pgs

    ReplyDelete
  91. Aight, so I'm about to call the guy up to pull the trigger on this deal. I give up BD and C. Butler & I receive GWall & J-Rich. The trade analyzer says I'm gettin' the good side of this. Here's my over/under again:

    Before Trade:

    FG%: -0.326
    FT%: 0.574

  92. ben, naw, I got a lot of help from Thief here and changed my team around. I got a lot of guys, Jamison & Jefferson et al., thru BUYLOW trades XD

    ReplyDelete
  93. @ Ben: I drafted Dirk and Joe Cool 1st & 2nd round. I stole Pau Gasol, S-Jax, and Terry for my Aldridge and Mayo last week. My first thievin.

  94. Thief, is this good?

    I offer:
    Ariza
    Brooks
    D. Lee

    Wade
    Haywood

I'm trying to sell high on Brooks after his 43 points,6 3-pointers,

Bando, you know I love that deal. Two roto studs, ink it!

Eric, man I wish you could deal him instead. He shouldn't b on a WW.

Wow pyoon, I'd have taken Joe J. Maybe send back a 2-2 an get a lil xtra on the back side.

Ede, get more. Shard is cheaper than even that. Love u gunnin for Paul though.

    ReplyDelete

  98. Thief,

What do you think Tyreke Evans for Channing Fyre. The trade analyzer just says its ok, but I wanna know from you first hand. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  99. my handle is cjcowboyfan, i don't know why it says none above here

    ReplyDelete
  100. Lanc, you getting or giving Tyreke?

CJ, I noticed that too. Might be the new comment software I installed, it should fix under the next post. I hope

  101. Thief, What you think about last nights string of activity in the NBA Thief? triple OT and another OT. Guys putting up some out of body stats. I may have a difficult time trying to acquire Big Al or Troy Murphy or some other guys in that mix. Managers get very stubborn when it comes to them falling in love with players who will never see those skewed statlines but once a year. What are your thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  102. In addition, Vlad Rad suffered a strained Achilles Tendon last night and had to leave the game. I expect better statlines from Biedrins going forward.

  103. What's up Thief. Site and new layout look great. This place seems to get better with each and every day.

So here's my problem. I currently have Rondo, D.Howard and Al Jef (nice problem huh) therefore I'm concerned with my FT%. We both agreed that Bargs would be an ideal target to help offset that but at what cost? Al Jef was thrown out there and the analyzer says go for it but I feel he is worth more than just bargs. Especially after that BEAUT last night. That said the owner of him also has Pierce, Shard Lewis, Aldridge and Mayo that interest me. The only guys I'm willing to move him and that he has interest in are Al Jef and Brand.

    My starting lineup:
    Rondo
    Wade
    J.Rich
    G.Wall
    Al Jefferson
    C.Butler
    D.Howard
    B.Lopez
    Eric Gordon
    Aaron Brooks

    o/u: FG%: 0.102 FT%: -0.483 Pts: 0.222 Reb: 0.032 Ast: -0.161 Stl: 0.311 Blk: 0.105 3pts: -0.317

    Current bench: KG, Brand, Felton

    Thanks Thief!

  104. I think I made my team too shallow with all the trades and I'm thinking of if I need to do 1-2 trades to get back some of my depth... but I don't really like 1-2s so please tell me if I should just hang on for now and wait for some pickups...

My sauce is soso.. FG, FT,PTs,Assists,Steals are good but lacking in blocks, 3PT, Rebounds

This league is 13 deeps so waiver options suck...
    CP3
    Roy
    Stoudemire
    P.Gasol
    D.West
    Mayo
    Tyrus Thomas
    Harden
    Speights
    Alston
    Barbosa
    Price
    D.Jordan

The last 2 spots are for cycling the hot hand players...
I belive Mayo is at his highest point so I'm trying to work a
Mayo for Lewis/Diaw deal since my team is so shallow...
Sounds good? And should I be making 1-2 trades?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Q, agreed, my offer for Big Al was rejected first thing this morning lol. On to the next target!

J, try sending AL Jeff and Brand for Bargs n pierce, that should help your percentages.

Epiph, no! But feel free to make 2-2's. Just wait til one of those hot hands has a decent night and package him in. Start with Jordan/mayo offers. I like you targeting Lewis, but try for a lil better than Diaw to start.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I kid you not he rejected that very off just yesterday. He won't take back two bigs if giving up Pierce.

    ReplyDelete
  107. @ J: Man last night was a gift and a curse because everyone basically had a career night due to heavy PT. It's hard as heck to move some of your sell high guys for that buy low guy when the darn buy low guy has a solid night.

Managers are so fickle they swear to bob that their buy low player is going to build on that ONE performance.

This is why its US vs. Them.

Today guys.. I would target my man Iggy (Andre Iguodala. Go check out the statline he put up last night. Then try to thieve that bad fella. He gives you just about every stat you can imagine. His only downfall really is that terrible FT%.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Also, forgot to add that tonight is a good trade dealing night since its only one NBA game played.

My Chicago Bulls vs. Thief's Boston Celtics. Should be a great smash mouth affair Thief. I look forward to my man Miller scraping Rondo up again :-p

    ReplyDelete
  111. On the new comment software I can't figure out how to post with my google account.

    ReplyDelete
  112. @y4 I dont think Google is one of the accounts you can use to post to the comment section any more. I think its yahoo, twitter, facebook and something else.
