Alright, time to go all School Teacher on you ballers again. Look, I love the trade questions, hell I live for the trade questions you all shoot me in the comments section of this blog. I’m here to help and make sure you win. But you need to meet me halfway here and give me the right kind of information! What I need you to do is (rather than just giving me a list of players on your squad) I want to see where your starting rotation is in terms of Average Stats Per Game. You can give me this info for PTS, ASSTS, STLS, REB, BLK, and 3’S. This is VERY easy for you to do, and it will help me target EXACTLY what you need. Once you send me those numbers, I can compare with the ‘Secret Sauce’ and in turn tell you what Buy Low player is best for you and which Sell High player you should deal. Alright, so for instance with rebounds, this is how you calculate:
Take each player on your starting roster and write down how many rebounds per game they average this year. You can find this information very easily on their yahoo or espn sports profile page. So you’d have something like:
Kobe Bryant = 5.5
Paul Pierce = 4.6
Dwight Howard = 12
(obviously your starting rotation has more than 3 players, but I’m keeping this example simple. You likely have more like 10). OK, then you need to add these numbers together: 5.5 + 4.6 + 12 = 22.1. Finally divide by the number of starters on your team: 22.1 / 3 = 7.36.
7.36!! This is how many rebounds per game my team above is averaging. Tell me this number, tell me the same for points, 3’s, ast, stl, and blks. In turn, we will be able to assess where you are weak and where you are strong by comparing them to my Secret Sauce numbers. NOW instead of you saying ‘should I trade for LaMarcus Aldridge?’ and me advising you to do so because he is a good buy low, I can say ‘NO, you’re all set in Rebounds, in fact you’re very strong in rebounds! Let’s Sell High on one of your rebounding guys and Buy Low on a 3 point guy where you need help!’.
Whether you play ROTO or H2H, this is Crucial information for me to know and especially for you to know.
Simple steps that will go a long LONG way towards helping me, help you, to DOMINATE!
*now don’t just stand there, get out your calculator and pump some numbers. This is crucial information for you to have and it will take roughly 10 minutes to complete!*

Alright pimpin, here it is:
ReplyDeleteMy line up is this (h2h 12 teams, deep):
brooks
e. gordon
jennings
rondo
granger
butler
webster (just picked him up for dampier)
jason thompson
elyasova
beasley
ty thomas
ant. randolph
frye
bargnani
lopez
ben wallace
my sauce numbers:
Points: 16.475
Assists: 3.05
Reb: 6.39
3’s= 1.3
Steals: 1.625
Blocks: .75
i feel the numbers are pretty accurate, though when ilyasova and big ben play for me the 3's and rebs are generally little bit higher. what moves you got for me?
How bout that balla, now we see that you've got a very well rounded team in a position to dominate. Since you're in a h2h league, you should be competing in every category every week. I think the one guy to Sell High on is Bargnani, his stats are redundant to your squad. Try moving him for a high efficiency player. I'd love to see you snag a Brandon Roy or Joe Johnson. Both offer good ft/fg %'s, and they will help you in points without hurting you elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteGood work!!
When I take the averages of my 8 starters here are my numbers:
ReplyDeletePts: 18.325
Reb: 5.84
Ast: 4.24
St: .99
3: 1.06
blk: .65
so obviously that line needs some rebound, steal, 3, and blk help. but my bench is Ben Wallace, Frye, Okafor, and Redd...guys who give me defense, rebounding and frye hits threes. for the poetically named "sauce numbers" should i factor in my bench averages?
do you really think someone would give up brandon roy or JJ for bargs? No way i would give up any of those 2 for ill Mago. Love the secret sauce concept though,im filling mine out right now. great work
ReplyDeleteAnony, you need boards and blocks, you have okafor, he should be starting. Bench one of your high point scoters that offer less elsewhere. Next work on offering okafor and frye out for a better down low presence. Maybe Lopez?
ReplyDeleteRobbie, there's no way in hell I would deal either Roy or Joe for bargnani. But the owner of those players in that league is neither me or you, so why not try?barg def has a high trade value right now. Importantly, with a team as rounded as his (I was really impressed too) he can afford to sit back and wait for that one Golden Gift of a deal. Don't you agree?
i offered bargnani and randolph for roy. People in my particular league generally have misconceptions about who is really good and who is bad. One dude is sitting on carmelo thinking he is going to win the league. That's fine with me, I'm the one in first place. So while, buying low is harder than our boy makes it seem, selling high isn't. So that is what I like doing. I gave up Bynum for Harris in my other league and that was money
ReplyDeletecompletely agree....love the blog man keep doin ur thing.
ReplyDeleteHey there, here is my roster
ReplyDeleteC. Billups
Jonas Jerebko
Luke Ridnour
Salmons
Marvin Williams
Corutney Lee
Dwight Howard
Pau Gasol
Tony Parker
Raymond Felton
CJ Watson
Radmanovic
Przybilla
my stats from all these guys add up to..
3's - .723
Points - 12.25
REbounds - 4.66
Assist - 2.58
Steals - .964
Blocks - .557
im playing in a 14 man league and people are way stubborn to trade
I don't think you told me you were in first, but after looking at your nubers I wouldve guessed as much. That's a testament to the strength of the Secret Sauce! I like that trade offer and I like that you stay vigilant. Being in first does NOT mean you stop improving your squad.
ReplyDeleteWell done balla!
Hey Thief,
ReplyDeleteI'm in a small 6 team roto league:

in the middle with %s... Westbrook has been killing me in FG%... tried to trade him for D.Lee but the owner isn't responding... I also tried Westbrook and Deng for D.Harris with no answer as well.. still waiting.. Any other advice you can give me please? Thanks!

Anony1, you said people are way stubborn to trade. Do they trade? How many have gone off this year? Look if you're in a dead league, my advice is going to be - we need to find you a new league.
ReplyDeleteRobbie, thanks for the feedback bro, I appreciate it. I'm really enjoying this.
dw, you're on the right path. I like you pushing Deng and Westbrook, they are definitely the pieces to move. Looking for a high efficiency SF is a good move. Did you try for Aldridge too?
anony2, another well rounded team and i have to assume you too are competing in every category this week. Thus I'm going to prescribe something a bit more drastic, more dominating. Try packaging Dirk and Westbrook and look to get CP3 (or LeBron) and a nice buy low tossed in (gordon, jackson come to mind). Dirk has been on fire, dealing him for one of the big two now is the right move.
yo yo,
ReplyDeleteSo about Roy (way up top). Dude counter offered my Bargnani trade with. Bargnani + Brooks for Roy. Should I do it? It helps but I am lacking assists and the FA market is kind of dry? what do you think?
Alex, you gotta sell Gallinari, sell him NOW before the floor drops out. I like you getting D Rose for him, see if that works. You got a good squad though.
ReplyDeleteAnony/Bargnani - YES TAKE ROY! Then run around and do a Touchdown Dance around your room. Great move! Once the trade goes through, recalc your stats, I don't think you'll have too much of an assist dropoff. Man, score one for you an me, you just nabbed a BIG TRADE. But importantly, gloat to me and gloat to your mom and gloat to your dog but DO NOT gloat to your league. We want these guys to like trading with you.
ha sure, but don't you think brooks has a nice season ahead of him and bargnani is the designanted starter? maybe i'm too in love with my players, but last night brooks was dropping dimes (he averages about the same as roy in assists). and bargs can be a solid double double guy on good nights. And i still win this in a landslide?
ReplyDeleteYo fantasy theif, check out my team,

What do you think? I want to know that Paul Pierce time sensitive material!!!!
Anony, this isn't even a question. Two weeks with Brandon Roy, especially with Oden out, and you'll know why this is such a no-brainer.
ReplyDeleteLuke, suffice it to say Pierces FG% is heading down. I'd like to see you package him with Anderson in a deal. You need one points, boards player and one rounded player. Maybe something like aldridge and rose or aldridge and Jackson.
Anony2 here
ReplyDeleteI'm looking and thinking about that LBJ or CP3 Trade.. problem is that neither of those owners have really buy low guys. And I'm pretty sure the LBJ owner won't be looking forward to trading away the King.
Do you think Nowitzki won't be performing like this for the rest of the season?
The good news is that the owner of CP3's team has been putting up bad numbers, and he suffered from injuries so I bet he's looking for big trades.
Here's his list:
CP3
Morrow
Bibby
Stojakovic
Antawn Jamison
Caron Butler
B. Lopez
Camby
Diaw
Marion
Thad Young
Larry Hughes
Biedrins
And just in case
LBJ's Team
Jennings
Ray Allen
Aaron Brooks
LBJ
Horford
Landry
Boozer
Duncan
Stuckey
Ariza
Tyreke Evans
Kaman
Gallinari
Thanks, I definitely like your recommendation.

Yo boy, anony 1,
ReplyDeleteDude backed out of the ROY trade...ughhhh! I almost had it. Is there another top guard I can package bargs/brooks to try to get. Would d-will be good?
Anony2, by the end of the season, Chris Paul and LBJ will be so far ahead of every other player fantasywise, it's ridiculous. In fact, you can say that about most fantasy sports. Definitely the #1 seed, and often the #2 (sometimes 3) are SO FAR AHEAD of everyone else. I play Auction Drafts, and spend tons to get these guys. If you can trade to get one, DO IT. Maybe Caron Butler as the Buy Low?
ReplyDeleteJingo! Dood! NINETEEN TEAMS?! WTF?! What is that like a Tila Tequila gangbang league? Look, my first piece of advice, never more than 16 managers. Just too many! That all said, you need cheap three's with upside. Try offering Dahntay Jones for John Salmons.
ROY TRADE OH NO! Man you snooze WE LOSE! D Will would be at least as good as Roy, but tougher to pull off I'd guess. Keep working that Roy trade bro, go back to the kid and convince him it's OK to pull the trigger. He wants to do it, just needs you to hold his hand and be gentle.
Well, its a league here in the office, i was just invited. Will try to keep Dahntay for a week so he'll put up some numbers, Granger will be out for atleast 4 weeks, then i'll try to get Salmons.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Jingo
Hey awesome site man, I love your recommendations. I'm currently 5th in my 12 team H2H league, but moving up fast after injuries killed me the 1st couple weeks.

Any thoughts? I've tried the Dirk for CP3/LBJ trades but no bites so far.
Jingo, good stuff. That makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAnony, keep working that Dirk trade wire. Another option is trying to deal him in a 2-2 trade where you get Nash or Deron Williams back (Nash is better, high efficiency) and a buy low. Maybe you give Dirk and Curry or Dunleavy. You need a high efficiency assists guy. Make no mistake though, LBJ or CP3 would be the best fits (then Nash). And thanks for the kudos!!
Hi there I figure I should try and get your help here

Love the advice.
ReplyDeleteI just sent the proposal.. we'll see how it goes
I'm a little concerned though about losing Dirk and how that'll affect my blocks. I understand what you're saying about the value of CP3, so the trade sounds good. But should I be looking for a good blocker for any of my other players? I have Josh Smith and Haywood who are both sick for blocks, but one of the managers is interested in trading Jeff Green for Ariza, which I'm almost falling out of my chair for, but he's still debating. Which would lose me some more blks/g.
And just for your convenience so you don't have to look back haha.

Devon, you MUST have messed up the calcs. Try again and don't include bench or injured players. If you can start a max ten guys a night, then only use those ten to calc.
ReplyDeleteAnony, sell Channing Frye, sell him high. Try for D Rose, you need a solid PG.
Dave, K Love should get some added blocks for you BUT if you're concerned, then deal Dirk for D Wade, he's a blocking beast (though he couldn't stuff Kobe when it counted). If I'm makin a Dirk for D Wade deal right now, then I know I'm buyin D Wade a lil low and need to get a lil more on the other half of a 2-2.

Alright Chris, welcome to the blog. You need to deal Bargnani for Aldridge and Brooks for Salmons. Then check back in. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Stan and I just found this blog via a Espn Fantasy League forum and man am I happy I stumbled across this gold mine!

Hello, thank you much for any help you can offer.
ReplyDeleteI am currently first in a 14 team 15 roster spot h2h dynasty league.

I was considering reinforcing my BLK and REB by trading away LBJ + Stuckey + Jerekbo for Horford + Brook Lopez + Mike Dunleavy
Thanks again for your valuable insights and time.
Eso, NOOO! No trading off LBJ! Read my post 'how good is chris paul', it'll tell you why I say absolutely no dealing LBJ. I like u going for horford, that makes sense. Maybe Ersan an Frye? With miller coming back u should gable to move Frye.
ReplyDeleteI read the do not trade CP3 and LBJ away post. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks much for your help. I'll look into finding a way to get Horford.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up buddy? I missed draft day, and made a whole bunch of FA pickups and waiver wire grabs trying to fix my squad. Currently, I'm in last place of a 12 team h2h 9cat. league. Most people in my league aren't too trade savvy, and looks at my record as a means of not wanting to trade. After some renovations, here is my team:
