In what may be like a blatant attempt to create a stake in the new market through the iPhone hooks seem to Sony Ericsson has recently introduced a new phone line that focuses on touch-screen capabilities. On the front, the new Sony Ericsson G700 and G900 are the upper end. Since I was attached to the budget, I decided to buy a G700, so I can (to do some testing myself and I think I can put it as an expense exemption on my tax return.)
The first thing I noticed with theGold Sony Ericsson G700 I bought is that it's more like a multi-purpose palmtop works as a cell phone. In fact, their skills are very similar to most top end palmtops it from my palm almost obsolete. I said "almost" for reasons I will discuss later.
The G6700 is the most discussed feature is the touch-screen interface, a "must have" feature for new mobile phones in recent years has been due to the success of Apple's iPhone is the first phone based onboast a touchscreen interface. The G700's touch screen, it serves the purpose, and I had no problems using it. But when the traditionalists, who I am, I prefer instead of using the keyboard, especially since I have large hands and fingers and the relatively small size of the phone makes it difficult for me, the parts of the screen, I wanted to touch made . It was not unusual for me to repeat the same action twice or twice after accidentally touching the "Cancel" button.
After a few hoursfiddling with the G700, I can say that I am impressed and it was worth it, how much money I threw into it. It used to be that I am an organizer, a laptop and a cell phone to wear, but now I just need to carry the Sony Ericsson G700 and I can almost all the things that I do with three different devices.
The G7000 is the standard organizer-type features like a calendar, a useful scheduler, and an extensive contact cum address book. With the G700, my big list ofNetwork of friends and acquaintances is only a few screen touches away. In my case it more is because of my problems with the small touch screen and the included stylus is a little bit tiny for my taste.
In view of the mobile telephony sector, the G700 has everything you would expect from a modern phone with text messaging, a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, TrackID, FM radio with RDS and it even has an Opera Web integrated browser so you can surf the net with the phone. However, the lack ofWi-Fi capability makes the G700 a bit less than it should be multipurpose. It is not a deal breaker, but if you're really a Wi-Fi-enabled phone, you're better off going for higher end of the G700's brother, the Sony Ericsson G900.
