Success in the Affiliate E-Marketing Industry:

Internet Traffic and Search Engines
Traffic is paramount to the success of you and your website. If nobody is visiting your site then
you aren’t going to be making money, period. Make it easy for people to find your site, and don’t
start out with an “if you build it, they will come” attitude. The e-marketplace is not a field of dreams
it is a reality. Product buyers who go surf the web for any intended purchase will most likely use a
search engine. Google, Yahoo, and MSN are some of the most popular. Also individuals,
previous to purchasing, will know 90% of the time what they are going to buy. Simply put the
better you rank when they search for your product the more likely you will make a sale.
SEO
Perhaps one of the most important strategies in ranking your site in search engine results is
proper SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The backbone for successful SEO could certainly be
considered links to and from your website. The more the better when it comes to links, although
the links must be to and from pages with similar subject matter in order for them to be effective.
This would certainly create a high “pagerank” for your site. Of course that is not the only way to
optimize your site for search engines. Feel free to look at further guides or even ask around the
forum or our affiliate managers for additional advice.
PPC
Another great method to market your site would be a pay-per-click (PPC) campaign. This is a
great alternative if your site is not ranking well organically. You have most likely seen these ads
above and to the right of your organic results. This is an effective way to market your website if
done correctly. The standard way to PPC campaign is to write an ad and bid on placement for
your associated keyword or phrase in the format of an auction. For example if you are planning to
promote 0 you most likely would want to choose keywords or phrases relevant to that
product such as “acne treatment” or “exfoliation”. You would then go ahead and bid on your
keyword as that is what will determine where your ad will appear among those of your
competitors. Educate yourself beyond what is written here, otherwise you could end up in the
poorhouse with your pockets inside out, however done correctly you’ll be doing the backstroke in
a pool of money.
Closing the Sale
Ok great you have a customer who walked into your store (someone looking at your website).
They came to your store because it was easy to find, they like the way it looked, and the name of
your store gave the impression that your store would have what they are looking for. This is
where product knowledge will play a big part, people want to know about a product and if you
can’t tell them then they won’t buy. Secondly the product has to be easy to find, if it’s sitting in the
back on the bottom shelf they probably won’t see it (post images of product shots and banners
and ads). Now that the customer has found the product they want, it has to be easy for them to
make it to the checkout and purchase the item (make them a clear path of links that you want
them to follow which leads to the product page). Once you have them to the product page your work is done!
